“One can categorize this memoir as a queer coming-of-age story; however, to limit your understanding of this book to just that theme short-changes the scope of Ardoin’s story. This is a book about work, family, grieving, and finding yourself, and your freedom, that will resonate with a broad range of readers. If you’re looking for something good to read, cher, try this one.”– Rachel Lutwick-Deaner, Southern Review of Books

Morris Ardoin’s book, STONE MOTEL – MEMOIRS of a CAJUN BOY can be purchased in hardcover or paperback through the publisher, on the independent bookseller website Indibound, or on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other booksellers, and is also available as an audiobook on Audible.

Bravo, Morris. Excellent and well deserved review.
I hope that you had a fine holiday and that 2024 will be kind and generous to you.
I, unfortunately, had a stroke on Christmas morning. John quickly got me to the nearby hospital where I was given the treatment that saved my life. A week in the hospital, a week in rehab, and I am back home getting stronger every day, on the way to being in better shape than I was before the stroke.
John, who usually sleeps in, while I am at my computer early each morning, was up up to fix breakfast because we had a house guest, and found me shortly after the stroke. He immediately called an ambulance. Our doctor has confirmed what we suspected: if John had not found me till later, I probably would not have survived.
So now I think of each new morning that I wake up as a “Lagniappe Day,” and am very happy to be here.
All best, Joel

She gives away too much and garbles some of the facts but overall, I agree!
